The battery minder is a good idea if you don't want to disconnect. However, if you do that, remove the cigarette lighter. I have heard stories about shorts, etc.

Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] Winter storage

I put a "BatteryMinder" on the battery, slide soup cans over the exhaust pipes (steel wool stuffed in the end works too) to keep unexpected mice out.  Mouse proof! and everyone has opinions on what works best.  I remove any source of food/water and set a few traps.  Cover car if it is in a dusty environment.  Crack windows 1/2 inch for circulation.  Holley carb bowls tend to evaporate out and can then hang open a float (been there done that) so I run the engine to full temp once or twice during winter, but then comes the condensation issue in the exhaustuahst system - you can't win.

My winter Chevelle storage is actually in my basement  - taking about 1/3 up, connected by a ramp (concrete floor) that is the 3rd stall in the attached garage.  The incline is very gradually so I can still park other vehicles on the ramp.  A garage door at the bottom of the ramp closes this basement portion off from the garage. Quite unique, heated and right by all the tools.  Put this in when I built the house - building dept only required a 6" gas curb from the rest of the basement and 5/8 Firecode drywall (which should be used everywhere in my opinion).  If I was better organized I could get 3 cars down there.  Some people call it the "Bat Cave".
