I have a 383. It is mostly used parts like the crank is a real 400 that was turned down and nitrided. Here is the deal in my mind and I was thinking about it last night on any new motor I use from now on. The cylinder heads is where the money should be spent. 350 or 383, having some bowl work make a hugh difference.
Is this a automatic or standard? Do you want a something that revs and stays there or the torque that feels like the framing is bending? I like the 383 but it's externally balanced, meaning mine was balanced with a flexplate. I was thinking of switching to a 5-speed but that may canse some balancing problems but I don't know. I may not have helped. mike ----- Original Message ---- From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: BOBBY <Chevelle-list@chevelles.net> Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 2:38:08 PM Subject: [Chevelle-list] engine question Iam trying to decide on an engine for my 70 chevelle. I really like the looks of the 350/320hp turn key that Jegs has. But then again, should I go the extra step and get the 383 stroker. Is anybody running either of these two motors in a 70. And if so can you tell me how you like it. And also, does anybody know who has the best deals on either of these two crate motors. Thanks so much for your input.
