I was moving up from 0.8.5. The changes you mention may well have been the cause.
I did raise the issue on the list long ago when the times ballooned out but nobody seemed to have the same issue, and I did not get any clues as to how to address it. That was what caused me to buy the new machine, which brought the times down into the painful-but-bearable category so I let it drop. One aspect of my application that may be a little unusual is that it is well over 3 years old and created when CB was relatively new and very differently structured from the way it looks today. I have been through several major changes to the framework (e.g. in the early days CB code and application code were mingled together rather than separated the way they are today.) This could well mean that I have a slightly 'odd' set of components. Perhaps I should have generated a new, 'empty' application and copied all my code into it at some point as a complete replacement, but it seemed like a lot of work and there are always user requests to be addressed. A major upgrade (such as this one) is not something to be lightly undertaken. Anyway, all is well now. I am very grateful for your help.
