Congratulations Lucy! Where did you get her from? Where in NJ are you located? We are in southeastern PA and someday want another little male so Brutus won't be our only studmuffin! LOL...
We crate and peepee pad train our chi's for their safety and ours. Or take them outside often, free feed them if possible. Take her out after a nap and playtime if possible too. Be sure to socialize her, so she will love people and not be "too snooty" as some people say. Just becareful about walking her in public places until she has all her shots, until then ours are only allowed in our yard. Even when we take them to the vet, we take a peepee pad or blanket to put them on. Our vets clean the tables and all before eat pet, but I guess you can say we are very protective of our babies.
Then during the day when I am home, they are still blocked in the livingroom. If we go out, the two little girls are in their crate, and the 3 older chi's (still pups though) are free in the livingroom. I change their water 3 times a day, keep Nutri-Cal on hand in case of a sugar drop in any of them (5).
Our pugs are crated as they just are kind of clumsy and can hurt the chi's without meaning too.
We put it this way, you cannot love them enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will be looking forward to pictures as soon as you can send some our way!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! I met my new 6 1/2-week old baby chi today and put a deposit down.
I'll get her next week. She's SO cute! She's mainly white with some
tan spots. Her parents were there at the breeders. Nice people.. nice
dogs too! Thinking of names... I went and bought her a layette LOL...
a little pink tank dress, a little pink flowered collar, leash,
carrier, bowls, toys, blanket... all in pink!.
Anyway, I've rescued a few adult beagles and a pom, but have only had
one pup (a beagle) ever in my life. Does anyone have any advice on
housebreaking my chi? Feeding her? When are they old enough to begin
obedience training?
