So nice to meet you Deb and I enjoyed your story.  I am just getting caught up on my emails so I am a little behind. (We are hoping one day to have some acres for our furbabies too!)

Hello.

I'm new to this group. I just came to brag about my very first
chihuahua litter. They are just darling! I want to keep them all! I
am also going to give you a little bit of background on me.

I've been a border collie breeder and trainer for over 12 years.
I've never bred any other type of dog. I have an 8 acre farm.
Throughout our 6 years on this farm, we have had chickens, geese,
sheep, horses, pigs, and of course, the border collies. A few years
ago, however, I decided I wanted a smaller dog for a companion
because, let's face it, border collies are a little big to sneak
into most places!

After trying to decide between several tiny breeds, I was torn
between a Yorkie and a Chihuahua. I chose the Chi due to the lack
of "excess" grooming necessary. I have never regretted the decision.
Don't get me wrong, I love my border collies with all my heart, but
these little guys are just toooooo cute!

First, I had to find one. I ended up purchasing a total of 6 puppies
from different breeders all over the US because I couldn't decide on
which one I wanted. I decided to just compare them and re-home the
ones I liked the least through process of elimination. I narrowed it
down to my three favorites. Still, I didn't feel I had the time for
all three, so I sold two more. Those two were really difficult for
me to sell. I decided to keep Jenny because she was already 5 months
old when I bought her. She had been kept in a cage, was unsocialized
and afraid of her own shaddow, and I didn't think she would do well
being sold again. The other pups were friendly and outgoing and
much younger. I knew they would adjust to a new home easily. I knew
Jenny had a good heart. Her problem was strictly lack of
socialization. She got to be a great pet and finally learned how to
behave like a dog, cut loose, act silly and smile. She does smile!
Funny though, she wa s the first puppy I bought!

I have never regretted keeping her. Jenny is my constant companion
and she just adores my husband. You must understand that my husband
is 6'6" tall and his hands are as big as Jenny is! But she loves him
to pieces and he just adores her. She was very nervous, shy and
hated strangers when she came to live with us. She would hide and
growl at anyone (except me) who came into the house. Once, my mom
tried to hug me in my truck and Jenny almost bit her. Mom said, "I
don't like her. She's a nasty little dog!" She really wasn't nasty,
just frightened and wary. I didn't have to worry about being car
jacked anyway!

I had originally tried to find a long haired, deer type, blue
spotted on white female. I could not find one anywhere. Then I found
Jenny's mom, but she wasn't for sale. The breeder was keeping Jenny
for future breeding but decided to let her go because I wanted her
mom so bad. That is how I cam e to have Jenny. I hoped to find a male
to breed with her that could produce the type of pups I was hoping
for. I could not find exactly what I was seeking, however, I found
Gizmo, who was long haired, had a super friendly and unflappable
temperament, and his father was blue and white. I was hoping that
since his father was a blue & white LH and Jenny's mom was a blue &
white LH, that I would get some blue & white LH pups. Wrong!

So, Jenny and Gizmo were paired. Jenny did something none of my
border collies had ever done. The minute she got pregnant, she had
nothing else to do with the male. They had tied a couple of times.
This time, once the tie broke, she quit flagging and refused to
breed with him again. It was like someone just turned off the
switch...that fast! I knew she was pregnant. There was no doubt. Her
temperament changed drastically almost over night. She would even
let strangers pick her up. She became mu ch more snuggly, and with
everyone, not just Jim and I. She went from one to another looking
for attention. She never rolled onto her back before she was bred.
As her belly began to grow she started coming up to us and flipping
over onto her back as if to say, "Hey, what's this? Look! I'm
getting fat right here!" She got very friendly and affectionate. It
was a really neat transformation! I wasn't really sure I wanted to
breed her in the beginning, but now I am sooooo glad that I did!
Pregnancy was wonderful for her. And, she is the best mother! Her
pups are fat little sausage rolls and she keeps them immaculately
clean. She seems to enjoy all the attention too.

Anyway, Jenny and Gizmo produced quite a variety, for only having 3
pups... but not a blue spotted on white, long haired pup in the
bunch. My luck. Anyway, it doesn't matter as they are all precious,
and if I don't sell the remaining two very quickly, I'm afraid I'm
going to have to keep them all! And I don't want to keep them all!
But I won't be able to help myself. They are just the cutest little
things I've ever seen. So, if you know anyone looking for a very
sweet, very healthy AKC Chihuahua pup, I have one of each sex
available. Neither Jenny, Gizmo, nor any of the pups have had any
problems with hypoglycemia, knee problems, fontanel problems,
siezures, eating problems, NOTHING! Jenny even has a cast iron
stomach. She can eat anything and never gets sick. My border
collies, on the other hand, get diarrhea from anything different in
their diet, even if it's just a bite.

FOR SALE:
The first born was a white male with a jet black irregular shaped
mask. He is long haired but it's thick and straight. I think he
will be a mix of the two head types. He's not a total apple head, and
he's not a total deer type either. He is starting to show ticking
and will probably end up marked similar to a bird dog with tiny
black spots all over and a mask. If you look at him in just the
right way, he looks like a little jester. So, we named him "Joker".
I was told that Chis with "ticking" are sought after because it is
rare to find one with ticking, especially multi-colored ticking. I
don't know if that's true, but if it is, there's one here! $500.

FOR SALE:
The second born was a white female. She got long wavy hair and a big
apple head just like her father. She has a chocolate spot on her
right cheek and a tiny chocolate dot on top of her nose. She was the
last to open her eyes, but the first to get out of the bed. She is
very nice and has the sweetest temperament, just like her sire.
She's very sociable and loves to be loved. She's easy going and
is always lolling about on her back with her undersides pointing up.
She sleeps that way. She is also the "talker" of the group. I don't
mean "yappy". She howls and she talks. She throws her hea d way back
and howls just like a little toy wolf! She's sooooo cute! She may
be bigger than the male, and would make a great companion, even for
kids. I wanted to name her something pretty, feminine, but also
pertaining to her white coat. I wanted something different, not the
usual "Snowball", or "Snowflake", or "Powder Puff". I chose "Lily
Pearl" for her. Her eyes are much lighter blue than the others. Ruby
eyed maybe? If she were a border collie, I'd say they were going to
stay blue. $650.

NOT FOR SALE:
The last born was also a female. She has been claimed by my youngest
daughter. She insisted I let her have her. So, I said okay. She is a
chocolate spotted on white with tan points, or a chocolate tricolor.
She has a very short coat like Jenny and she is always shivering
like Jenny too! The other two never seem cold, but this little girl
is always cold. She has the cutest face and a perfect mask. She's
very nicely marked with a full saddle with a long white squiggle
right down the middle from her neck to her hips. Then she has a spot
over her tail. She's tiny and has the deer type face and build. She
is clever and watches everything. She opened her eyes 3 days before
the other two. She's content to sit in your hands and stare into
your face as you talk. My daughter named her "Lyric".

So now you know all about my babies! I also have two wild mustangs,
both being trained at this time. I have a 4 month old wolf cub. I've
had 3 wolf, wolf/hybrids in my life. Enapay is my 4th. I love wolves
and always like to have one around the place. However, I have never
bred them and don't intend to. Enapay will be neutered before he
reaches 8 months. He's a beautiful gentle spirit with a dufus side
too. His name, "Enapay" is Sioux and means "Brave". He's not.

Please check out my babies on the photo album I made. It's called
Debby's Chi Chis. It's only pics of my Chis, b ut if you want to see
pics of my mustangs or my wolf, or my border collies...or my family
(oops, almost forgot the humans, LOL), just ask. I've got thousands
of pictures. I've worn out 2 digital cameras already! I can also
send current pictures of my puppy kids.

Nice to meet all of you! Sorry so long.
Debby
