My chi Lupita had surgery in her left rear knee at about the same age as Zoey. She limped for a few days, but then she slowly started using it again. The hair is another story, it took almost a year for her hair to grow back, she looked as if she had a chicken leg! The younger they are the better they seem to recover. One of her pins actually came out and you could see it poking under the skin. They had to remove it. Luckily, it had healed enough that they didn't have to go back and insert the pin again. - em :-)
