Yes you were misinformed. You were outright lied to. We purchased Bogie
online but then again I have known this breeder for years and have talked to
others that have bought dogs from her.
Your chi sounds like he was abused by man

Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] I'm purchasing a puppy online...any advice?

I purchased a puppy in a way similar to yours. I went online and found a
breeder who had shown at Westminster and said all the right things which
made me believe that her dogs were of good quality. She did all the
necessary testing, gave vaccines, socialized, etc. I also informed this
breeder that I have a 10 year old daughter and that this was to be a family
pet, but also a Christmas present for her because we lost our rescued
Chihuahua 2 years prior and she has been begging for another for quite some
time. I was told that he's beautiful with a wonderful, comical temperament.

Unfortunately, after I sent this breeder half of the fee via priority mail
(she lives 5 hours away) she then informed me that this dog was from a
backyard breeder friend of hers. The day before I went to pick him up, she
told me that he might bite me. I would have appreciated knowing that when
we first spoke. It also appeared that he was NEVER socialized because he
did indeed bite anyone who came in contact with him. My daughter was
heartbroken. When I told the breeder's husband that he was biting us, his
response was, "be careful", which led me to believe that he was not
surprised. He also didn't try to bite my husband or myself when we went to
pick him up from the breeder.. I think it's because she placed him in my
arms

Anyway, I would never purchase another Chihuahua from a person whom I do not
know. He's much better than he was, but he still hates my son and husband
as well as any other visiting boys or men. We call him a "Devil Dog", but
we love him dearly and would never think of parting with him. However, I
can't help but feel that I was misinformed.

Good Luck!
