Please keep her crated while you are at work or in a small confined space. You do not want her to have to get another surgery, blow out a pin, or some other injury. It really better to be safe than sorry, I speak from experience! - em :-)

When I got home, after being away approximately 6.5-7 hours Jabby, the 6lb Chihuahua had managed to leap from the floor onto the sofa, and then onto the back cushions of the sofa. This was one of her usual residing spots before she had surgery on both knees for luxating patella. She seems a bit sore, might be a bit of heat around the joint, a slight limp, although she was using that leg to scratch herself. What do I do? Aaaaaaaaaack...everything was going so well!
