Well I know there are chi's with out them.. But I also know that at one point to be AKC a chi had to had to have them.. But that is no longer true. I don't know anything about the Wolf subject to comment on except to say I do have a wolf/husky mix that is a great dog, but not full blooded. However, there are legitimate reasons to breed without papers. First, some people do not want the paper trail or responsibilities that goes with registrations. Second, a lot of people strongly oppose registration registries because they see them only as a money making machine with no true value. There are plenty of non quality papered dogs, and plenty of great quality non papered dogs out there. The paper do not make a difference in the dog, and quiet frankly are not even proof of pure blooded since there are a lot of unethical people out there as well as a lot of honest mistakes made. Finally, when you consider that you can take ANY dog that closely enough resembles its breed, you can register it with some registries. For instance, the CKC requires only 3 pics and your word on it to register a pup. So realy, papers do not mean much of anything unless you are a breeder trying to establish a line and show proof of your line, or unless you are a show person who needs the papers in order to show a dog. Otherwise, I just gotta respectfully disagree with you on the registration issues. As a breeder, we have a LIFETIME responsibility to any pup we produce, rather that pup has "papers" or not.
