I have (in the past) adopted a dog before and changed the name. That dog adjusted right away to his new name with no problems. I was thinking about calling her by her original name (Powder) at first and then changing it but that seems like it would be more confusing. I am definitely not keeping the name Powder so I will call her her new name from the start. It will be an adjustment for her, I'm sure. But she will get SO much love and attention from her new family so I am sure she will be okay. Stefanie

It will be a transition and some things may be a bit more comfortable like her name being consistent for a spell anyway. good luck with your new sweetie! please show us some pics! best, michelle, henry and vinnie (the wee one) in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, NY -----Original Message----- From: arlene weaver <arleneweaver2004@ yahoo.com> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com Sent: Sun, 19 Oct 2008 2:29 pm Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] I'm Getting My Chi Tonight i cant wait to see the pics. do you feel like a kid at christmas? I'm so excited! She is 1 year old and I am adopting her from a breeder who decided to rehome a few of her dogs. The breeder was keeping her as a breeding dog and she has already had one litter of pups who she did very well with. Her name is currently Powder but I am going to change her name to Cricket. She is a white long haired Chi that weighs 4 pounds or so. She is being flown to me and I am picking her up from the airport tonight. I am hoping my Gizmo (7 months old, neutered) will get along with her. I have the kitchen set up with Gizmo's x-pen in the middle. I am going to put Cricket in the kitchen with a gate up for now until she is pee pad trained. I figure I will leave Gizmo in his x-pen and have Cricket have the rest of the kitchen until the get to know each other. Gizmo is really good with other dogs and Cricket was raised with other dogs, too. So, I hope they become best friends! I have Gizmo and 2 Australian Shepherds. I decided to get a second Chi because, even though Gizmo plays great with the big dogs, I would love for him to have a little Chi like him to play with. Anyway, I can't wait to get her! I will post pics of her tomorrow. I am sure I will have lots of questions for those of you who have experience introducing new dogs to their other Chis.
