I don't think it has ever been a proven fact that dogs gain weight after spay/neuter. But, I would think that their matabolism does slow down a little or they just simply become less active. My vet says to just feed a little less food than you did before, keep the dog active, monitor their weight and the dog should not gain weight. Dogs can't gain weight on their own. It's up to us to monitor their weight, feed them the right amount of good quality food and keep them active. And that's regardless of whether they have been spayed/neutered or not. Stefanie

My dogs are lovely but I am not a knowledgeable breeder and don't want to breed my dogs unless I was truly going to better the breed and knew a lot about breeding, conformation, temper, genetics etc..... So, can anyone tell me about the weight gain thing?? Blessings, SHEILA Get the Moviefone Toolbar. Showtimes, theaters, movie news more!
