Hello: Pavers would work great. What I used was PolyMax Poultry/Kennel Flooring -- part of the add is at the bottom. I found the flooring at at teksupply. They use to have it as a part of a kennel shot setup.

I went to the local Synthetic Grass store and looked at the scrap pieces. Normal cost would of been $7.00 a sq foot, the left over scrape went for $3.00 sq foot. I found a section the worked great. I have a outdoor cage mounted on top of the Polymax/grass that they have access to from inside the house. The picture below is taken before the flooring was put on 4x4's and the doggie door was installed.
