The rescues use what they call 'leg service'. It means that people drive the dogs to a certain point, usually for 1-2 hrs and the next person at that point picks the dogs up and they drive to another point of destination for the next driver to pick it up, and on and on and on, until that dog reaches his furever home. It has been going on for years. Every day dogs are being driven from as far as CA to NY and vice-versa. Their is also Pilots N Paws, they are private pilots who donate their time an will fly a load of dogs from one state to another and many times picks up and drops off on the way. I have heard that it is not that expensive, and all they ask is that you donate to the rescues involved. Their are people who have rigs and trucks that pick up and drop off a dog to it's destination, from state to state across all the states. So if you should ever want to save a dogs life that is out of state, just ask the shelter to get you in touch with a local rescue where the dog is at and they will work out the transportation. For this little guy if you read the entire email that I responded to Pam on, you will see all the information necessary to save and transport him. What state do you live in? Some rescues even work with rescues in Canada to get an adoption approved. If a person really, really, wants a particular dog their is always a way to do it. The rescues know all the tricks too! ♥ Peggy & The Girls ♥ -----Original Message----- From: Ellen <[email protected]> To: Chihuahuas <[email protected]> Sent: Wed, Nov 24, 2010 10:15 pm Subject: [Chihuahuas] Re: Chi-in High Kill Rome,GA Shelter I wish I could have just no way to get him here.
