I wouldn't be surprise if they already do it, but don't tell people who ship
them in cargo. Their have been several case that I read on the news this
past year where they filled condoms with drugs and surgically put them
inside the dogs. One poor dog was found dead in his kennel at the airport,
which is how they found out. Another story was some lady had doves taped to
her body, each bird was filled with drugs and most of them had died from it.
I have also heard of people doing this to dogs trying to cross the Mexican
borders. Their nuts out their!

So maybe it is not a bad idea for everyone's safety. What if a nut decided
to put a plastic explosive inside a dog/cat? The scary part is that they
would have to remove the dog from their kennel, and if the dog bites or
escapes it would be a horror for the pet owner.

I have to disagree in part with you because I have shipped one before to
California from Oklahoma.
I chose Continental simply because they explained and showed me how the pets
are treated there. When I picked up my puppy there at their cargo facility
the puppy was in a warm quiet room. The guy had given her fresh water and
complimented me on such a beautifully behaved puppy. He was very kind and
very friendly. One thing I can say is when they transported the puppy I was
shipping to the air terminal from the cargo building it was in a warm van.
The puppy was put on board before the passengers even.
I never saw any scuff marks or anything to indicate the crate was 'thrown'.
On the other hand I would never use Delta again! They timed the
connecting flights too close and my little beagle puppy I was shipping for
my dad missed the flight! While they footed the bill for a boarding kennel I
was hopping mad!
I just felt I should say I have had positive experience with Continental.

Hi
flying pets in the cargo section is very very scary, & noisy for pets. They
have to be in a certain type of crate that is airline approved. airline
approved really means strong /tuff so if luggage or boxes falls on it, they
wont crush the crate! They are thrown around the cargo area when there are
turbulents and or sharp turns. Its very very noisy also with the engines. I
would NEVER put my pet in the cargo section of a plane. Chihuahuas are timid
enough without being put thru that.

I fly to California occasionally with Tia to visit my son.. It usually cost
about 250 dollars for her to fly in the cabin and they only allow a certain
number of dogs per flight.. I am sure cargo is cheaper but I refuse to do it
. Just a consideration if you have never flown with your dog.

I would be more inclined to Las Vegas. I can get cheap tickets from Idaho
Falls. Plus the husband is a poker addict. He would go for anything in
Vegas.
