Okay Sugar you asked. Complex focal seizures like other seizures can be caused by a number of things. ANYTHING that can cause brain damage can cause a seizure. It may have been the anesthesia that initiated the seizures. It could also have been a small stroke if she had any invasive procedure. I can't be more precise without more info. But that's not what's important. These days there are so many medication options. The key here is a knowledgeable vet. Good prognosis for reasonably normal life with the correct meds. One Vet also felt it was possible, while his associate Vet did not. They know something, and aren't saying what the odds are. The only med that I know of that is used to treat seizures is phenobarbital and the dog has to stay on it for life, I guess partly because they become addicted to it.
