Gina, I don't mean to scare you, just be cautious. If she has been on her meds for ten days and isn't showing improvement, then she should be re-checked again. I am curious, you still didn't answer if the Eskie is over the KC or not.. -------Original Message------- From: Gina Vasquez Date: 1/5/2011 8:09:46 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Kennel Cough. OMG!! You're scaring me.. however, it is kennel cough because she caught it from my rescue boy. Before that, she was PERFECTLY healthy! :*( Also, when I took her in, he listened and didn't hear any fluid in her lungs. I agree with Peggy, My last dog had what I thought was kennel cough and it was congestive heart failure. The lungs fill with fluid and they cough. They have lots of great meds for congestive heart failure. The trick is to check and find it early. The vet can usually hear the fluid in the lungs this a stethoscope. Is the Eskie over the kennel-cough? or are they just passing it back and forth to each other? KC can be tricky, some times a dogs meds may have to be changed several times before one works, but Paris should definitely be monitored by a Vet in between to rule out any other complications that may exist. If you feel she is worse then I would strongly recommend that a Vet recheck her lungs and bronchial tubes. I'm pretty new to this group and would like to discuss Kennel Cough in Chi's.... My baby Paris (3.1 lbs) fell victim to this horrible thing when I rescued an American Eskimo off of death row 3 weeks ago. I have her on meds but this morning she seemed to be struggling. Could you tell me if any of you have experienced this and what is the timing on how quick she should recover? She just finished her 10 day dose of Clavamox and is on another med. HELP!! P.S. When I took her to the vets he said the 2nd one should kick it into high gear. She sounds like she's sniffling inwards and her little body is trying to get it out!
