I had Maxx in seclusion for the first ten days when I wasn't here, but this week I have been home due to the weather. So he was in population with the other Chi's> I think he had bad knees like the vet said to begin with. However, Blue pinned him against the wall and Maxx folded. I think she made the injury worse. She is a strong little girl. Today is his second day on the Steroids and he is acting like a new puppy. He didn't need anything for pain so far. He is stretching his rear leg and the vet said that is a good sing. I am going to try medical message and hydro-therapy prior to surgery. Yesterday I though for sure we were headed to surgery and we still may be, but at least he isn't in pain. I hated that.
Thanks for telling me how easy it went. It does make me feel better. I have a 8 year old Amish Puppy mill rescue that have bi-lateral lactating patellas. She was born with it and has learned to walk with it and had no less than a half dozen litters. My vet said the puppies would have all be born with it. Due to the fact that she was not operated on young she has developed muscles that protect her. There will come a day when she may need an appliance to aid her in walking. She has grade 4, I think and there is no real benefit to operate. My regular vet sent us to an orthopedic and she confirmed Ruth Anne would not benefit. So we just baby her. We did have a very large hernia removed from her groin. It was 2 /12 inches long and 3/4 inches wide! This improved her walking.
