I think the problem is really multiple faceted...there is just not one issue 
involved. But I think the animals in overflowing shelters is just a sad 
commentary on our present society. Responsibility, respect...true respect, and 
being reliable are traits that have fallen through the cracks in the last few 
generations. We live in such a disposable world.  The motto seems to be if it 
ain't workin for you...just dump it! People are not much in to persevering and 
fixing stuff...always looking for the new, the shiny and the easy! Breeders 
should be more careful breeding and placing...buyers should be more long term 
committed, shelters should not be so stubborn in releasing, some rescuers 
should lighten up a bit and quit trying to make $, legislation should be 
tougher on dumpers, and hoarders like me?? Lol!! We should be allowed to own 
more dogs...legally!!! Lol!!!
