I am not so sure that this is true Joan, The shelters have always been overflowing with dogs, it is not just recently. Thanks to the Internet people are now seeing what a problem it has always been. A lot of people have no qualms at all about getting rid of an animal because they are "just an animal". I think the economy has caused the numbers to rise but not that much.
_____ So, what you wrote, Deanna, is true of some people but not of all. There are too many in the shelter and they need homes, but I think that some of them came because of some sort of family economic problem these days.
