Oh...and after I robe my first bank?? I am buying those sleepy pods...the round
ones! I have a friend that has 2 of them for little Chis...they have warmers in
them that either plug into a regular outlet or a car...she uses them as beds in
the house too...I have to say they are the cutest things I have ever seen and
her doggies just love them! They are so doggone expensive though...I was
bidding on a used one on eBay but I quit when it went over $80 lol!!

Hey guys!
I recently saw a video on a study done in Germany about pet safety in cars...I
will see if I can find it. What I was astounded at was those hard plastic
crates. They crack and split in accidents and then your baby can be stabbed or
punctured from the pieces. Their suggestion after all the tests were soft sided
crates that had give..like the sleepypod both round version and airline
approved version...and pet gear makes something similar. They found that just
booster car seats with harnesses and tethers to the seat itself were not that
safe...whiplash...broken collar bones, necks etc. The test showed that the
safest carriers were those that strapped into the car seat with a two point
buckle...not just through the handle but around the carrier itself and that the
carrier must zip closed with heavy zippers...not plastic buckles. Here are some
pics of different ones: the first one is by pet gear...the other two are sleepy
pods

Thanks Liz, I'm not too shaken up anymore but we'll see what happens when my
mom comes to get me and take me to my car. We have to get all my belongings out
of it... I'm so sad I will have to say goodbye to my car. I know its silly and
I should just be happy that I'm ok but I'm in tears just writing about it. I've
had that car, a ford mustang (my dream car), since I was a senior in
highschool. Almost 7 years. It was a good car even though it had a dented
fender from when I hit the mailbox the first year I had it, lol. I loved that
car so much and its gonna be so weird driving a new one... I have so many
memories in it... But I will hopefully be getting a safer more practical car.
And I will make sure my furbabies are safe always. I was wondering, do they
make a hard sided crate with padded sides on the inside? I'm worried about him
getting knocked around in it and breaking something because he seems so
fragile.

...me if my grammar or spelling or anything else is off in my posts tonight.

It's late at night, and I probably shouldn't be posting when I'm so tired.

Lorena, I hope you feel better in the morning & aren't too shaken up
from your accident. As for Monster not liking the hard sided
carrier, I had a little Chi boy who also absolutely hated to be
crated. But for his sake, I still put him in a hard sided crate
whenever we got on the road. It just takes a second for an accident
to happen. So it is better to have a sulky Chihuahua (who will get
over it once the car ride is over) than a tragedy.

Liz
