HI way back in the day...(70's) babies with diarrhea we were told to withhold food for 12-24 hours, then start them on baby rice. also give pedialite. The 2 times Ricky had Diarrhea & Tummy ache, I just did not feed him anything just water.. until the next day. Usually he was better the next day anyway. would start him back on small amount of his dog food he would eat.
I can say that Pepperoni off pizza will cause diarrhea! and tummy problems like gas. I know when Ricky's tummy is hurting cause he puts his butt in the air with his head and front legs down in a laying down position for a few min. He also will walk around with his tail tucked looking at his butt alot and follow me around. When I walk him during this time he has diarrhea & gas the same time. I am not a big fan of Pepto Bismol i do not think it works well for dogs with diarrhea. I would try chicken and rice or I/D and make sure the pet is free of parasites. If that is not working i would have the pet seen.
