I sure hope so!! Makes me so stressed out! I find myself putting my hand under the covers at night checking on her to see if she is breathing.. I am going to research a diet for her, but she too loves her chicken that I cook every week for them.. Beth

When Pollie gets sick, which is often with her respiratory issues, i take her to the vet and they give her breathing treatments of antibiotics. they put her in a box and fume the antibiotics in and it has no steroids in it. This could be helpful for Smidgen if she gets congested again. I'm just really in tune to my babies and keep a close eye on them and i always can tell if pollie feels bad. I really need to watch giving Pollie the chicken i let her have but that baby loves her food so much! it's one of her biggest joys in life since she can't do much else. I'll have to share some videos of her later. I've never known love for a dog like Chihuahua love. Smidgen is my 1st chi, she picked me.. I need her for many more years!! --- On Mon, 4/11/11, Kari <[email protected]> wrote: From: Kari <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Smidgen's Update To: [email protected] Date: Monday, April 11, 2011, 2:54 PM She may live for many more years. I think it's a good vet to avoid anesthesia and shots because the side effects could pull her immune system down and be a drag on her heart. Pollie is claiming a health exemption from her vaccines. Also avoid any steroids if possible. She pretty much acts her self. This morning I could tell she didn't feel good, but she still wanted to eat breakfast, so that is always a good sign. I did ask the vet if she should have shots? teeth ever again, he said no.. So that kinda made me think she didn't have long? --- On Mon, 4/11/11, !!Mare!! <[email protected]> wrote: From: !!Mare!! <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Smidgen's Update To: [email protected] Date: Monday, April 11, 2011, 2:42 PM Hi Beth I went through it with my little sheltie Peggy Sue. But she was quite old....14 years. We kept her going for quite awhile until it just became too hard to see her suffer anymore. I do not mean to discourage you in any way or fashion . And my prayers are continuing for you and Little Smidgen. She doesn't have Pneumonia anymore, they did an x-ray and her heart is very enlarged, rated a 5 out of a 6. I saw the x-rays and her heart is so big it is pushing against her lungs. She is on three medications now. Has any one else here gone through with this? Beth
