If the medication is a prescription medication, then you still have to have the
prescription from your vet before they can fill it.

Natural remedies have been used by many. I tried using some for Dolly’s knee
inflammation this past winter, but it didn’t work for her. She may have had
more inflammation than the natural remedy.

With natural remedies for humans, you have to be so careful because somethings
that are good for us and not good for our chis.

I do send good wishes for Smidgen!

Hi Beth!!! Yes, I am so ridiculously behind reading posts (think I am on too
many groups) and sorry to just be responding to what has already occurred.
Lots of family affairs to attend to, nothing upsetting, just time consuming and
requires my presence kind of stuff. And it's happening again, because today is
past the date of little Smidgen's recheck on the 23rd. (I don't know how you do
it all; working, taking care of all your adorable chis, tending to your chicks,
taking care of home, and if you cook, well, it's a lot to keep up with and I
admire your ability to do so much, seems when I was working I seemed to get
much more accomplished, funny that, but since my company went out of business 7
years ago, it seems I have taken a very long vacation, lol.)

I want a chi yesterday. My husband does not. I took care of a friend's chi for
a week and have been smitten over them ever since. He sort of freezes up and
stops talking whenever I approach the subject, so not wanting to rock the
boat... He feels it does not fit in with our future plans. He wants to move to
the southwest in the near future and thinks it will be too difficult to
transport our cats AND a dog across the country (he has a point) and do some
traveling, and he reminds me how not well (not eating, appearing depressed,
etc.) our pets have done in the past when they stayed at our vet's office a
couple of times we went out of town. Probably because I am so close to my pets
(cats currently) and they are so hugged, kissed, played with, I am sure no one
could smother them with as much love, attention as I do. They love me and the
feeling is so mutual. You know how we love our furry ones.

What a sweet and lovable reaction Vida had to seeing you again. No wonder it
touched you so. So cute. It sounds like she will never forget you and still
loves you dearly. Chis know who they love and are deeply affectionate towards
those.

I love your new license plates, so adorable, and wouldn't you love to hear the
different comments of people in other cars, some trying to figure out what your
plates could possibly mean (ha!) and the ones who know. Funny. I never knew
before coming on the group Chihuahuas were shortened to Chis. We've come across
some plates that really stump us from time to time but have a lot of fun
attempting to figure them out. We live in dreary old uninspiring flat
landscaped nothing pretty to look at when driving no jobs no hope Ohio and
people are leaving faster than the census bureau can account for them. (Hope I
haven't offended anyone who loves living here).

Beth, I am so sorry to hear Smidgen's heart is even more enlarged. I know how
upsetting that it as when I have learned in the past I had to face loosing one
of my babes. They fill my life with so much love and joy it is just so darn
hard when you have to reconcile yourself to the fact that they are not going to
improve health wise. It's so sweet how Smidgen keeps you close to her. Hoping
so much though she will improve. Have you given any more thought to trying
that medication online? Usually vets and most doctors discourage people trying
alternative methods to improve health, but sometimes when people do anyway,
they are wonderfully rewarded. I am all for alternative medicine myself.

Lynn, you must have read this post from me a little late. Smidgens appt. was
last Saturday, and that is when I found out from the x rays that her heart is
very enlarged.

She is due to go back for another re check on the 23rd. They will do another x
ray to see if the meds have helped, also some blood work. Smidge seems okay,
she does want to be near me more. She is eating great and drinking good too. So
that is a good sign.

Your sister and her hubby are wonderful for saving the little baby. So glad she
is doing well!

It made me cry when I saw Vida last Saturday. It took her about 15 sec. to
remember me, but when she did she went crazy crying and wiggling ! Oh that
touched my heart so.

I had brought her a tag for her collar, and some chew sticks, she grabbed them
and ran off to put them in her bed..LOL

So when are you going to get your self a Chi?

About a month ago I order personal plates for my car that read CHIMOMY. I can't
wait to get them.!

What state do you live in?

Beth

Hi Beth,

Yeah, because he isn't lost anymore. Ori just needed a little adjustment
period, time to get his feelings all sorted out in his temporarily confused
little mind. It has to be hard for them to be uprooted, Ori twice, poor little
guy, and then maybe he was wondering where he would be going next, but then
when he discovered, hey, this must be my forever, fun, and I am truly loved
here loved home, he felt he could settle in and become his sweet, adorable and
true self (how adorable is his high-five trick?, he sounds so lovable). My
sister and hubby adopted a beautiful 4-month old baby girl (so wonderful now at
age 30 with a family of her own) and she was a mess. She had been in 4
different foster homes in her first 4 months of life and she came to my sis so
unhappy. Broken out all over her whole body with a horrible rash, she cried
all the time, and 3 months later when she knew for certain she was in her
forever home, and feeling totally loved, the rashes went away, the crying
stopped. Even though I think dogs adjust somewhat better than humans to such
upheaval in their lives, it has to be really tough for them too. Vida, a
little pistol, that sounds like a glowing report. Hope so much she is feeling
happy too. Oh sure, guess those chicks need time to be become chick-ens, and
that is so cute when I read how Dani is mothering the chicks TOO and 'checks'
on them. I just had to laugh when I pictured that scenario in my mind. What a
gal! (ha) I love brown eggs too, always searching to find them around here,
but none could be much fresher than yours will be when you finally start
spotting your eggs -- won't that be exciting? I hope so much Smidgen gets a
much improved health report on Saturday. I hate to hear when any animals are
suffering, it breaks my heart. Ohhh, thank you, wouldn't that be something if
we were able to meet each other someday? I would love that too!

Hi Lynn,

Ori is doing really great!! He doesn't have that lost look anymore. Normally in
the morning he just jumps off the end of the bed when I sit up. This morning he
came up to me to give me a morning hug! He is a character too, he does this
high 5 trick. Dani plays n plays with him, he has to jump up on the chair to
get a break from her. I was worried he wouldn't be happy, but now I know he is!

I am going to call and check on Vida tonight, I haven't heard from my ex, so
hoping that is a good sign that she is fitting in with him and Peanut. I have
pictures of her here at my desk to remind me of her. When I spoke to him last
week, he said she was a little pistol!!

Chickens are doing great, they have been in the coop for over a week now..
Acting like chickens!! Hehe. I buy them Meal worms and take some out each day,
and they go crazy for them! Eggs won't be coming till around June/July, when
they are 5 to 6 months old.

Looking forward to fresh brown eggs! Dani is a mother hen too them too, she is
always going out and checking on them..

Smidgen is doing well, I can't wait for her appt on Saturday, I am still
worried about her, but she is eating, and drinking allot and peeing allot too,
just from the meds..

Lynn thank you for the kind words, you make my day.

Wish I could meet you sometime!

Beth

Hi Beth,

Dani sounds like a really special girl too, doing her part in making Ori feel
more (lol) than welcome in his new home. You are so lucky to have such
wonderful furry kids, but they didn't get that way all by themselves; you must
take credit for them turning out so well balanced. It's so nice to hear that
Vida will be able to come back to your home if need be. She is such a little
doll in her photos and you mentioned she had a lot of personality. Good luck
with all of sweet ones, really hope Smidgen's health is improving daily (and
your chickies too, any delicious brown eggs showing up as of yet?)

Hi Lynn,

Yes Dani loves someone to play with! Ori is getting his fill of her.

I didn't speak to my ex at all over the weekend, hoping Vida is doing well with
him.

I won't be doing any rescue's for a while, with Smidgen's condition I know I
will be having more vet bills, and I don't want to take a chance at her or any
of them catching anything.

I did tell my ex if she doesn't work out, she will always have a home with me..

Beth

That is really cute how Dani is such a playful girl and seems to really love
the new arrivals, isn't she the most gracious host (lol). I do think from what
you have said, Vida desperately misses you and the fun dynamics going on in
your home, any chance she could return? I hope whatever decision is reached, it
all works out works out wonderful for everyone involved.

Hi Beth....your little Smidge sound so precious and really glad she seems to be
improving. Wow, Chassis IS really tiny (but apparently does not know i with
her Rottweiler mentality - ha). I have seen since I first asked, the picture
you posted of him (very handsome) and Ori has very nice markings. It sounds
like he feels has hit the jackpot making it into your happy pack and maybe
tickled he is the only guy amongst all the females. Lucky guy in more ways than
one. I'm sure many dogs do just fine being a singulardog in their family, but
most probably really do enjoy the pack atmosphere of being with others of their
own species and who could blame them.

Hi Lynn, Yes my sweet Smidge is on the mend!! Of all my dogs Smidge is the
sweetest of them all. She is the one that will go up to visitors, and just a
lover.. Chassis is my pistol!! She is a Rottweiler in disguise, all 2.8oz of
her!!

Ori is a sable, He has a mask with some black, but his paper work says sable.

He is a Phalene Pap, his ears stay down and not up like the Chi's.

He is a very mellow Pap, as I was reading they can be very active. He has a
beautiful coat, very silkie. Funny thing I have had females for so long, I am
not use to the water hose yet!!LOL

Poor little girl Smidgen. I hope so much she'll come out of this all right and
healthy again. Your new little guy sounds adorable. Is he black and white? I
don't know much about Papillons, except they always seem so good natured and
usually black and white markings. Is that so or am I thinking of another
breed? He sounds wonderful and fit in so well and quickly with the rest of the
gang.

Well I took the day off yesterday to take Chassis and Smidgen in for there
teeth cleaning, & shot s. Smidgen couldn't have either done. she has pneumonia
and congestional heart failer. The kennel cough went to pneumonia. She has
always had a heart mumur. So she is on some strong medication, and next to a
vaporizer.. Chassis is all good and 5 teeth less!! & I am 500.00 poorer!! &
Smidge still needs her shots and teeth done!!! Yikes. Oh and I have a newbie!!
I got a Papillon. He is 3 years old, and he is the perfect dog!! I got him for
free!! "its a good thing too, cause I thought I would have some extra money
from taxes to buy one, but with Smidge sick, I used it on her.
His name is Ori, and he is 3 years old. He is neuterd, micro chipped, house
broke! He is so good.. He gets along with the girls. He is very mellow, and he
sleeps at the foot of the bed.. I really lucked out with him!! So now I have my
Pack. I am happy!!! Poor but happy..
