There has been some discussion as to how to avoid red eye while photographing your favorite Chi.
The best way is to not use a flash. However, if you must use a flash (because there isn't enough natural lighting in the scene), do not shoot your pet straight on with the pet's eyes looking directly into the lens. Sadly, even a red eye setting on the best of cameras can't prevent red eye if the flash goes into the eye and bounces light back. Red eye correction programs with after-the-fact software IMHO also really don't correct the problem. So it is best to avoid it when taking a photo. Just some random thoughts for anyone interested.
