It sounds like you are caring for his physical needs, and that's wonderful. If he seems healthy and happy, then you are doing the right thing.
But I'm concerned to hear that he sits in one place all day! Why is that? Why don't you carry him around with you? Chi's are pretty light. You could get a baby Snuggly (that hangs on your stomach) or heck, just pick him up and bring him to wherever you are ... I mean do YOU sit in one place all day? OF COURSE HE'S BORED. He's probably feeling lonely and left out of things, too. When my father was old and living with us, we only had one place for his bed, and that was in the den next to the kitchen. LIttle privacy, but at that age he didn't seem to care. He loved being in the middle of things. Please see to your sweet older dog's emotional needs as well as the the physical.
