Hi, everybody. Hope I'm not being presumptuous, since I'm brand new to this
forum... AND to Chihuahuas! For that matter, I'm new to all itsy-bitsy dogs.
The smallest I've had previously was a Smooth Fox TERRIER (a far cry from
Chihuahuas). I've had this Chihuahua mix for 8 days now. I introduced her to
my dog, an Airedale Terrier, when I first went to meet her myself. Then I took
him with me to visit her a couple of times before I actually brought her home.
Each time it was on neutral territory. On that last visit, they were able to
be in the fosters living room together (off leash, of course). Although at one
point they play-bowed to each other, my Airedale swiped at her with his big ol'
paw and it scared her, tho' she responded by growling from behind the foster's
legs. Except for that one instance, they got along fine.

I took my Airedale with me when I went to pick her up, too. They rode home
together, with him in a seat restraint and her in a small crate. I carried the
crate into the house and set it down in the room with us; of course, my dog was
curious. Eventually, I opened the crate door, but let her decide when to come
out of it. So I just left the door open so that she could run back into it for
safety in case she felt threatened. My dog was loose in the room, but got
bored and took a nap. After about 45 minutes, she came out very slowly. My
dog walked over to her, they sniffed noses, and the rest is history.

Don't know if that was the best way, but I do know that taking him in advance
to visit her was a good thing.
