He's about 7-8 months old. We did have a small crate and he used it. Then got the ex-pen and the whole thing seemed kind of redundant so we took back the crate. After reading some of the posts, I'm considering getting another crate, attaching the ex-pen to it sort of like a little yard so there's even more room between his bed and the pad. Maybe that'll help.
