Sorry, I'm just getting back to my emails!  That's horrible Pam! It is
terrifying when a dog that size comes running at you and you are trying to
protect your little ones.  What a sad and preventable tragedy!

Yeah we had a dipwad girl next door who used to let her Pitt run..despite the
fact it is against the law.  One night he attacked and killed the dog across
the street as they were coming back from a walk.  Animal services came the next
day and took him away.  Two dogs dead because of another aggressive dog paired
with an irresponsible owner.

I live next door to one pit bull and across the street from another. The
neighbors across the street never have their Pitt on a leash. She is very
friendly with people and is usually only outside when one of her owners is
nearby. She does however come charging across the street, if she sees me out
with my Cooper and Dali. My dogs go into a barking and shrieking frenzy when
she does this, and I am terrified that they will trigger a response in her! I
have expressed my concern to my neighbors but they just brush it off and tell
me that she would never do anything.

These encounters with the Pitt have made Dali now very aggresive when she sees
any dog!  Cooper will usually stay somewhat calm as long as the dog does not
run at us.

Today I was in the park with my dogs and an unleashed Collie came running at
us. My dogs freaked out again!  It aggrevates me so much, because I bring my
dogs to a puppy group every week to get them used to behaving well with other
dogs. The group is run by a dog trainer and it has really helped my Chi's to
begin to overcome their fears.  When we have an encounter with an unleashed dog
charging at us , it just sets them back in their fears. I really want to
socialize them so they are as sweet with other people as they are with me, and
give friendly dogs a chance but it has been a slow challenging process!

Me too.  And don't get me started on the subject of "Pitts" lol.  It is not
worth the risk to me of subjecting them to other dogs.  We have our own pack of
three and my gf's dog comes over..Enough..

I steer clear of large dogs. One change of heart and they could kill my Chi.
The owners always say "Oh my dog likes other dogs or doesn't bite" but we had a
kill at the beach not too long ago. A super friendly Pit suddenly changed it's
mind and killed a tiny dog with one bite.

We all knew this dog and it was a sweetheart tn suddenly bam. Especially, since
my littler Chi exhibits aggressive behavior with his growling.

Any dog can snap. So, no big dog friends. Also they can easily step on the
small ones, that's the least of it.
