Judy,

Can you mix some canned food and a bit of Pedialyte? When Dolly stops eating
(for whatever reason which I never really know) I do the canned food and
Pedialyte. She is up and eating kibble about 15 minutes later.

If Jewell has been eating normally, then there has to be a reason for the black
dribble. Although many dogs can hide their pain (Dolly is a good example) it
doesn’t mean that they don’t have any. If you think that the black dribble is
blood, that could be an indication of some serious problem.

With all that you wrote for the $$ that you paid to your vet recently, you
would think that they could make an exception for you today.

Do you have a veterinary school around you? Sometimes they will see animals as
part of the learning process and the cost could be nothing to not very much.

I can't answer that question for you. But what do you want to do?

Jewell was my husband’s dog and so has a very special meaning and attachment to
me. She is at least 13 yrs old.

For 3 days she has had a low grade black diaherrea. Not squirting, just a few
dribbles. I looked up what that could mean and it says internal bleeding. She
ate well this morning and both meals the other 2 days. She just lays on the
couch all day, except when I take her out. She does not appear to be in pain.

Now here is the rest of my problem. I’ve had one emergency after another which
has drained my resources down to nothing. Credit cards are maxed out, checking
account is overdrawn. I am NOT asking for money. I just want to know if you
think I should put her to sleep when my check comes in if she has not improved.
