Desi Lou does that all of the time. I can be holding both Dolly & Desi, and
Desi will start licking his paws, then rubbing them across his eyes, his
mouth, his ears.they he starts on his chest, his tags, his arms.and then if
he has a shirt on, he will lick the arms of the shirt. I picked him up the
other day and his shirt arms were totally wet from him cleaning his sleeves.
If he is in one place - whether it be my lap, his bed, the stroller - he
will continue to clean everything around. Then he starts on Dolly.cleans
her ears, forehead, eyes, and sometimes he will also clean her arms and
paws, but that is rare and I think Dolly is in control of telling him what
she wants him to clean. Desi is very food driven and that might add to why
he cleans the bed and himself after eating.maybe not so much to get rid of
the crumbs, but for him to have more to put in his mouth.

Dolly.she will eat her treat very slow and I can tell that she is thinking
as she is chewing. I can give them both a treat at the same time, and Dolly
will be chewing and chewing and looking around.Desi is more like Jaws - I
can hear his jaws lock down and he eats like a man.his mouth is wide open in
between the chews. He chews once, and sometimes twice and it is gone. Then
he tries to get part of Dolly's if a piece of hers drops out because she is
a 'feminine' eater. Very funny the differences between them. Desi just
amazes me that he never runs out of saliva to clean everyone and everything.
It just amazes me that he can sit on my lap for 30 minutes or more and keep
on licking.himself, Dolly, me, his clothes, the blankets, my clothes,
Dolly's clothes.just a licking obsession I think.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Nicky

I've never seen a dog do what Nicky just did. I handed out treats to
everybody. Nicky took his to his bed. So when everybody else had finished
I looked to see if Nicky had finished his. (He is very slow and picky about
eating his food.) Sure enough he was still working on it. I had to stay
close so one of the others would not take it from him. When he finished the
treat he proceeded to lick his paws and them wash his face with his paws.
He repeated this over and over until he felt all traces of the treat were
gone.

I've seen cats do this, but never a dog.
