In the 70s, the vet told us to put Sevin dust on our dog to kill the fleas.
Maybe they found out then that it was not good for the dogs.

I am so happy for you that he is back home again. SEVIN!! I would get him to
the vet ASAP for a complete check up, and hope and pray that stuff didn't
poison him! To my knowledge that is an insecticide for plants and not for
animals. He is going to need a special blood test to see how much of that
stuff is in his system and treatment if any. No I would definitely not give
him any HW meds or anything until the Vet says you can. What's wrong with
those people??!! Ugh!

I also hope that you fool proof your yard and not let him out in it again
unless he is on a long leash.

Six weeks after he disappeared we had a call a little while ago from someone
who lives about a mile away - he would show up there then be . - it got cold
and the man let him in the house - someone else near us saw the sign and
told him. He has brought him back. He had been dusted with sevin and full of
fleas again and seems to have a little pussy discharge from his eyes now.
He's not too happy at this point. Had a bath in Dawn and fleas were jumping
off. Will have to call vet tomorrow and see what they want to do about the
heartworm. He's now about a month overdue for the preventative he was on and
of course past due for his second phase treatment. Anyway - for any who
remember him I thought I would let you know.
