      Catherine,
I had a male cat, Bear, that was used to dogs.  We lost our Golden to cancer
and then our terrier/dachshund to old age, and he was an only cat for a few
years.  Then we brought home Rascal and Pepper.  Rascal pretty much ignored the
cat, but Pepper wanted him to play.  She used to literally bounce off of him.
He let her chase him, but he never clawed at her or chased her (that we know
of).  By the way, she was 4 pounds when we got her (6 1/2 or 7 now) and he was
15 pounds.  We lost him at 15 1/2 years old.  He was a special cat.
All you can do is try - and make sure each has a place the other can not get
to, just to have some peace.  But make sure you research chihuahuas
first so you are prepared.  They are special little dogs, and not like any
other type of dog! Nancy, Pepper, Rascal & Rocky

Hi, I have been considering getting a dog for a long time now. I am new
to dogs in general and I was wondering, since I have a male cat should I get a
male or a female Chihuahua or does it matter? I know I will have many more
questions to come. I appreciate all help.Catherine
