My Desi Lou - his parents were 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 pounds. Desi is tall, long, narrow and absolutely no fat - 8 lbs 15 1/2 ounces. At four months he was a good inch taller than his littermate brother. Can't always tell from the parents. If you get a puppy be prepared to accept whatever those genes and chromosones have created. I love my little Desi Lou - would never take him and switch him for another. At the time the breeder said he would be a bit smaller than Dolly and wanted to know if that was OK...yes, but I didn't want a tiny that would be underfoot. Desi was grossly obese and so we couldn't determine anything by weight. He was on adult food at 8 months because in two months a small amount of puppy food was not helping him to lose fat. He was always growing long, then high, then thinner...He levelled off at about a year and then right before he turned two, he grew longer and taller and narrower. Just never know what throwback genes are in these little ones.
