Honestly raw is a thousand times easier than cooking food.

I found that interesting to. Maybe because not
enough research has been put into it to find wholesome balanced meals. You
would think that someone would jump on it since there has been so much talk
about the food companies, and not everyone can handle the raw diet.

I'm interested in a raw diet for my Chi but I think I will start
with cooked. I'm not sure how to keep raw meat on hand without it going bad. I
don't own a car and don't get to the grocery more than once a week. I find it
interesting that vets believe in Raw diets. I haven't seen anything saying vets
are for cooked diets.

My Chi eats raw, 80% meat 10% bone raw only, never ever cooked
bone, 5% liver, 5% other organ. He has been raw fed for over a year and does
wonderful on it! No point in feeding plant matter to dogs, they cannot digest
it, it simply passes through and lays on your grass. My raw fed Danes poo a
tiny bit once a day, that's because they use what they eat. Even my vets are
now pro-raw 8)

I agree that dogs don't really digest veggies. They are
made for eating meat.

dogs don't need veggies, then again I like Rebecca feed
raw. Pumpkin is good for loose stools or constipation but IMO not necessary
for everyday consumption. All the hype about adding supplements to your dogs
food reminds me of the overhype of human taking supplements also. It is
recommended because most humans don't eat right.

You know that is one thing that I don't fully
understand. Dogs are mostly carnivores and I have read that they don't digest
cellulose which is what most vegetables are. Sometimes I think that when
everything hit a head with the dog food companies to get rid of the filler
foods, like wheat and corn and too much rice is not beneficial to a dog, that
they had to come up with something they could add to the kibble, so veggies was
it. I give my girls a little bit of broccoli, and carrots, and sometimes
pieces of corn as a treat when I have it as part of my dinner, but just don't
feel that it would be beneficial to them as part of a regular diet.

frozen veggies are much healthier & less salty than
canned. I'm diabetic, the drs cram all that
                          in our heads.

                                Here is my recipe.
You process it in a food processor or grinder.

I whole chicken (boiled) and pull the meat off
1 large can Veg-All mixed veggies
                                1 large can plain pumpkin
                                2 eggs
                                1 large baked sweet potato

Mix it all up and keep refrigerated.

Does anyone make homemade food for your chis?
I'm interested in doing so but most of the recipes I've found are for huge
amounts and I want to make some food that is good for small breeds. Any advice
would be appreciated.
