Dear Rita,
Thank you so much for speaking out to save Susi the wolf. It's not enough
that she's temporarily exempted from being killed now. We need Sweden to enact
permanent protections, not just to save her life, but to protect the future of
all wolves in the country.
Will you ask your friends and family to stand up for Susi too?
Susi dodged a bullet Tuesday when a court ruled that she can't be killed
yet. But that temporary reprieve could be up any day now. Susi's fate is
crucial. Sweden's wolf population is so small it's at serious risk for
inbreeding, so Susi's arrival from Russia -- with her unique genes -- could
help ensure the survival of the entire species.
More than 7,000 Care2 activists have already taken action for Susi. We
need to show Swedish officials that there's a lot more where that came from.

Sweden's wolf population is tiny. But even though just 270 wolves
remain in the country's forests, the government continues to allow culls at the
behest of ranchers and herders. The wolves' diminishing numbers has put them at
serious risk for bad inbreeding that could jeopardize the species survival.
That's why it was welcome news when two wolves joined packs in Sweden,
bringing with them fresh genes. Sadly, the male already fell victim to a cull.
Now, citizens, animal-lovers and wildlife activists are asking the government
to spare his mate, named Susi. A final decision will be issued this week, so
there isn't much time left. Will you join me and sign this petition asking for
