Rather than change the API that your endpoint accepts, you could change the
client
source code. If you are using strict rules for the endpoints then the
client making
the request should be ensuring that the content-type is correct. All
requests should
have a content type, Chrome has just defaulted to text/xml because none was
explicitly specified. Try using the code below, replacing "text/xml" with
the type
that your endpoint expects
xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "text/xml");
