You are misunderstanding how applications like Chrome work. When you
opened a "new
browser" from the start menu, all you did was open a new window from the
currently
existing Chrome. There are all sorts of technical reasons for why it has
to work
like this, and most other browsers will behave similarly.
I just verified that Firefox3 behaves identically.
