Comment #25 on issue 1565 by zastrowm: Don't make GoogleUpdate always-resident http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1565
Although I don't want the updater running 24x7, I do like the silent updates. The simplicity and non-clutter of chrome is what made me switch from firefox (every time you startup there's an update!). I understand people wanting control and notification, however, and I wouldn't mind if chrome notified users the same way popups, downloads or crashes are notified - a little bar with an explanation that goes away as soon as you do something. But a pop up window saying "Google Chrome has updated" or "There's an update to Google Chrome" is too much. I'm sure eventually it will be an option, however, so kudos to the Google Team. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
