I didn't get back to working on this until this Tuesday. When I
did some more testing, I found that the simple code I wrote and
bragged about in comment 10 last week wasn't adequate. I did a
lot of experiments and research days and nights but still couldn't
get it fully working. Finally I broke down and did a thorough
comparison of our handshake code with the Platform SDK WebClient.c
sample, and made our handshake code completely equivalent to the
sample. Then bingo!
It looks like I won't be able to check this in until next week.
