Comment #13 on issue 441 by unknown.unit: Scrolling or selecting text
repeatedly pegs CPU at 100%
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=441

I'm currently using 3.0.197.0 (Developer Build 22243)

I did some more investigation and it does seem that the cpu spike is much
improved.
I get a similar level from Chrome and Firefox now, around 15 to 20%. The
issues with
my audio playback occur with Chrome and not Firefox, indicating this is
something
other than a cpu issue, and should probably be opened as a new issue.

While it is a little inconsistent, not always happening on the same pages,
the
earlier linked page -
http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel/release-notes/ - seems
to do it
pretty consistently

I opened this page just now in both Firefox and Chrome and spent a little
while
scrolling up and down constantly with page up and page down. With Firefox
I see the
15 to 20% spike, but my audio player keeps going fine. With Chrome I see
the same
spike but every time I go up or down the audio pauses for a fraction of a
second (it
sounds like a pause, not missing audio,) one or more times as I go in each
direction.

I also forgot to mention that this glitching often happens on switching
tabs to and
from these pages, and on initially opening and sometimes on closing.

It's sounding to me like maybe there is something clogging up communication
as Chrome
loads content into the viewable page area and preventing the audio data
from being
transmitted for that fraction of a second.

Something to note is that this is not happening on my work computer, which
admittedly
is a much better machine than this one, which means that to reproduce you
may need to
run on an older machine.

I would have thought that the problem was in fact other software on my
computer, or
even aging hardware, if it was not that it isn't happening with Firefox. I
suppose
it is still possible that something is interfering with Chromium and there
is nothing
that you can do about this.
