Comment #3 on issue 615 by [email protected]: Multiple keywords for
search engine in omnibar
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=615

@2: In all honesty, searching itself is already somewhat non-discoverable.
I didn't
know it was possible to use more than the default Google search until I
stumbled
across a blog post explaining it while I was looking for an extension to
enable it...
and I'm normally the first person to look in context menus for things. (I
was
operating on the assumption that keywords would work the way they do in
other
browsers... "gg: whatever" without pressing Tab)

Anyway, how about just making it respond to both the keyword and various
subsets of
the URL? (eg. wikipedia.org (assuming only one is a search provider),
en.wikipedia.org, http://en.wikipedia.org/.*)

The alternative would be to allow a comma-separated list of keywords the way
Konqueror, Arora, and possibly one or two others do. I ask because I like
to use
short little two-letter keywords, but there's always the risk I'll forget
the ones I
use less frequently but I'll remember the domain name.

Oh, and it's not very discoverable to have keywords silently fail to work
just
because they contain certain characters. (eg. colon)
