New issue 24511 by borisyim: Memory surges on drag to change route in
Google maps
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=24511
Chrome Version : Chromium 4.0.222.3 (28634); also happens to latest
Chrome 3.0.195.25 (stable) and 4.0.220.1 (dev)
URLs (if applicable) : maps.google.com
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 4:
Firefox 3.x: OK
IE 7:
IE 8:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. input start and end address to generate directions
2. zoom in to a road & drag to change route via nearby roads until the
memory suddenly goes up several hundreds MB
What is the expected result?
route changes smoothly without memory jump nor slowing down the machine
What happens instead?
route change suddenly becomes unresponsive to the mouse drag; browser
including other tabs becomes extremely slow; memory increases by 300-400 MB
for quite some time before dropping back and route updated
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
