As I noted in comment 7[0] of Issue 27103, it does occur when using a font which is installed by default on Ubuntu. I don't think changing the font you use is really the best solution (especially if it's for another language). What I would like to know is whether this is an issue for users who have their desktop localized to a language other than English. That would be useful in determining whether this is a major issue or not.
