You will not believe it, but, after I clicked on your CRX link (from within GMail, which opened another window), saved and installed the extension, clicked on "Tabs Unlocked" and tried to close the empty CRX window, I could not. I tried to click on "Tabs Locked" and I still could not. Now I have an empty tab that cannot be closed. :(
