I've had a hunt and there's no easy way of finding new notifications,
only the list of current ones...

I've written an extension that works now, though it does load the
facebook home page in the background and then just parses it. Can't
find any other way right now, it could be more lightweight to just
load up the mobile web page, but it doesn't seem like a much better
solution. Oh well, if anyone can see a better way please let me know
otherwise I'll just leave it like this :P
