help with understanding a little about how to load/package an extension in
general. Then I'd recommend just creating a couple of simple test images of
various colors, and experiment with using each one for the values shown for
theme manifest images at

Also, note that all of the .crx files you can download at the themes gallery
are just .crx files which can be unpacked with an unzip program like 7zip.

You can also see the contents of your installed themes in the Extensions
folder of your profile data, which is located in different places depending
on which OS you're running:
