Yes the Chrome version plays MP3 just fine. The Chromium Dev version that has extensions, does not. That's the only reason I can't test my extension on Mac Chromium Dev version, is that it doesn't emit any sound, even after going through the motions of downloading or reading the MP3 file within the extension.
