It would be nice if there was a way to trigger the display of the popup without the user clicking on the extension icon?
I'm working on an extension that uses a popup where the user can perform an action. I want to make certain things on websites clickable and then trigger the popup to display with the value already filled in in the text input of the popup. I really don't want to have to create my own inline popup to handle this case when I have a perfectly good popup from the built in one. This would also be useful for extensions that want to notify people with the popup, rather than just the badge.
