Colleagues, Adding to what Richard posted: Sarah Churchill's account was published in 1967 while the Duke of Windsor was still very much alive, hence the need for tact in referring only to "a friend of royal lineage." All things considered, I agree with Stan's and Richard's interpretaion of events and that this is a true story involving the ex-King.
