With such question The Sun are trying attract attention and increase
their circulation. The reporter Robert Strange accuse W.S.C. that “he
failed in his duties as President of the Board of Trade to ensure that
the ship was properly constructed and that her passengers were safe”

I remember the phrase of W.S.C. – “I like the martial and commanding
air with which the Rt. Hon. Gentleman treats facts. He stands no
nonsense from them”.

But, can respected members of this chat can help to answer on three
questions:
Was W.S.C. really as President of the Board responsible to “ensure
that the ship was properly constructed”?
Was in the sphere of responsibilities of First Lord of Admiralty the
safety of such civil ship as Titanic?
And, are there any facts that connected W.S.C. and Titanic? I find
only two letters to C.S.C. (18 and 20 April 1912) in which he
mentioned Titanic soon after catastrophe. Are there something else?
